If I have been rejected for a credit card by an issuer what should I do?

If you have been rejected for a credit card then it indicates that there may be trouble with your credit rating. In this instance it is a good idea to contact the three main credit reporting agencies - Equifax, Experian and TransUnion and ask for the one free annual credit report that you are entitled by law to see each year. Usually procuring your report will make it evident as to why you may have been turned down for a card.

Whatever you do, do not apply for a credit card immediately after a rejection. This will only serve to lower your credit rating even further.
